HONG KONG - In conjunction with the K-Food Fair 2018 held in Hong Kong, Bright Moment was honoured to score an interview with Mr Lee Ji Jae, Director of the aT Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation Hong Kong Branch.

Q: In comparison with other countries’ cuisine and ingredients, what are some of the advantages of Korean food?
A: As compared to other countries, Korea has a specifically defined range of food. This is the case especially for our dairy products, because it is a must for dairy products that will be exported to other countries to undergo a security inspection. Additionally, we check for the presence of any pesticides because we uphold a high quality of food and we do not allow food that are subpar to be exported.

Q: Is there any reason to invite MAMAMOO to perform in the K-Food Fair this year?
A: We would like to attract fans who like K-Culture to join in the fair this year, and we believe that through music, it can connect fans. MAMAMOO is also well known for their cute looks when they are eating either on programmes or other television appearances, so we thought that it would be suitable if we asked them to perform as well for the opening ceremony.

Q: Besides performing, is there any other activities that MAMAMOO will participate in that fans can look forward to?
A: They will be walking around the fair, and at the same time tasting some of the food along the way, so fans can definitely look forward to that as MAMAMOO will also be recommending some of their must-trys to fans as well. It is hoped that through having MAMAMOO as a special guest, we can get more fans to come and also connect them through the love of the Korean culture.

Q: Any recommendation of Korean food to Hong Kong people?
A: Firstly, we have hanwoo (Korean beef), which is now exported to Hong Kong since end 2016. However, we are still not able to export it to other countries. Secondly, Hong Kong also has many fruits from Korea, like strawberries, melon, grapes and peaches, just to list a few, so be sure to try them as well.

Q: Does aT have any future plans to promote Korean food besides K-Food Fair?
A: We have plans to do at least 1 to 2 events per year, so do look forward to that. Additionally, we are also anticipating a campus project to raise awareness in universities, November this year. Although there are also plans next year for more projects next year but they are not firmed up yet.

Be sure to visit K-Food Fair 2018 in Hong Kong on 17 October 2018 to find out much more about these K-Food, and K-pop artiste MAMAMOO will be making their appearance as part of the opening ceremony too.
